Lynk & Co 08: the plug-in hybrid with 544hp and over 200km electric range
Geely's new SUV, the Lynk & Co 08, promises to exceed all expectations: with 544 hp and an electric range of over 200 km, it is an unrivalled plug-in hybrid car.
The 39.6 kWh lithium nickel-manganese-cobalt oxide (NMC) battery provides a capacity that exceeds plug-in hybrid cars sold in Europe.
The hybrid drive system, named 'E-Motive EM-P' by Lynk & Co, consists of two electric motors, four-wheel drive and a 1.5 turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, and the total system output reaches 400 kW (544 hp).
The new plug-in hybrid SUV from Geely
Geely is a Chinese company active in the automotive industry and, thanks to the acquisition of prestigious brands such as Volvo and Polestar, has made a quantum leap in car production. However, the Geely brand also has its own line of SUVs and, among them, is preparing to launch the new Lynk & Co 08, a plug-in hybrid based on the CMA platform.
The technical specifications of the new Lynk & Co 08
The new Lynk & Co 08 is a medium SUV that is 4.82 metres long, 1.91 metres wide and 1.68 metres high. The technical specifications show that the vehicle is equipped with a 39.6 kWh lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt-oxide (NMC) battery, a capacity superior to the largest batteries in plug-in hybrid cars sold in Europe. The claimed electric range is 245 km in the Chinese CLTC homologation cycle, which could translate to over 200 km in the European WLTP cycle.
The hybrid propulsion system
The hybrid drive system, named 'E-Motive EM-P' by Lynk & Co, consists of two electric motors, all-wheel drive and a 1.5 turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine. Total system power reaches 400 kW (544 hp) and maximum torque comes to 900 Nm.
The basic platform
The basic architecture of the Lynk & Co 08 is the CMA 2.0, the second generation of Geely's CMA modular platform, the same one that will be used on the new Volvo XC60 and that, in its first version, is present on the Volvo XC40, Lynk & Co 01 and Polestar 2.
Prices and engines
Chinese prices for the Lynk & Co 08 have not yet been announced, let alone those for the European version that will arrive in 2024. It is not yet known whether there will be other mild hybrid or plug-in powertrains with different power levels and battery sizes.
Ready to conquer Europe
The new Lynk & Co 08, a plug-in hybrid based on the CMA platform, promises a power output of 544 hp and an electric range of over 200 km. Thanks to Geely's CMA modular platform, the Lynk & Co 08 is a state-of-the-art vehicle that will meet the needs of those seeking performance that is compatible with environmental sustainability. Sales price and engine options will be revealed in the coming months, depending on target markets.
