McLaren Solus GT: from video game to real Supercar that dominated Goodwood 2023

A dynamic debut at Goodwood 2023 for the McLaren Solus GT, a supercar born from a virtual concept for the Gran Turismo video game. 

Only 25 units, all already sold, capable of staggering performance: 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, over 320 km/h top speed and an aerodynamic load of 1200 kg. 

Not only power, with its V10 engine producing over 840 hp, but also handling thanks to careful work on weight and aerodynamics. The price? Over £3 million per car (about 3.5 million euros).

At Goodwood 2023 the McLaren Solus GT supercar made its dynamic debut, an ultra-high-performance car derived from a concept originally created for the world of virtual racing, specifically for the Gran Turismo video game. Twenty-five units will be built of this model, all of which have already been sold. The Solus GT was developed specifically to be extremely fast through the curves of a racetrack.

The performance at the "time trial"
In the "time trial" at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2023, this supercar showed off all its potential, achieving the fastest time of 45.342 seconds at an average of 149.1 mph (about 240 km/h). After all, at the time of its presentation, McLaren had placed great emphasis on the great work done on aerodynamics, which had resulted in an aerodynamic load of around 1,200 kg.

The technical characteristics of the racing monster
The carmaker has also worked hard on weight. In fact, the Solus GT weighs around 1000 kg. The beating heart of this car is a 5.2-litre V10 engine capable of delivering over 840 hp with 650 Nm of torque, mated to a racing-derived seven-speed sequential gearbox. Drive is rear-wheel drive.

The unbeatable performance of the McLaren Solus GT
Speaking of performance, the McLaren Solus GT accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds. According to McLaren, the car is capable of exceeding 200 mph, or over 200 mph. Braking is provided by 6-piston monobloc calipers made of machined aluminium and carbon discs and pads. The split between the front and rear brakes can be adjusted by the rider. Suspension is steel, push-rod type, double wishbone with adjustable anti-roll bars.

The price of the supercar
According to the carmaker, the Solus GT is able to offer driving sensations similar to those of a Formula 1 car. Each example of the supercar was offered by McLaren at a price of more than £3 million (around €3.5 million).
