After the shortlist of 27 cars issued a few months ago, now another cut has been made and to go to the final round of Car of the Year 2023 there are only 7 models left: Jeep Avenger, Kia Niro, Nissan Ariya, Peugeot 408, Renault Austral, Subaru Solterra/Toyota bZ4X and Volkswagen ID. Buzz.
The final list is nothing more than the result of the seven most voted. And from now on it's getting serious, because the cars chosen from today to the day of the final, January 13 the Motor Show of Brussels, will have to convince the jury that they are the best car launched this year.

Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show 2022, the Jeep Avenger is the first electric car of the Jeep brand. The Avenger is equipped with a new generation 400-volt electric propulsion system. The new 54 kWh battery is produced by Stellantis and offers 400 km of autonomy that boasts 550 km in the urban cycle.
Subaru Solterra is the first 100% electric SUV of the Subarubrand. The Solterra was developed with the collaboration of Toyota and benefits from the typical all-wheel drive of the Japanese brand. The electric motor is powered by a 71.4 kWh battery. The declared range is about 460 km.
Nissan Ariya is the 100% electric SUV that opens a new phase for the Japanese brand. Nissan Ariya, in fact, will be offered in five different versions for the European market. At the base there is the front-wheel drive one with 63 kWh batteries, flanked by the 87 kWh one. In addition, the e-4orce all-wheel drive variants will also be marketed in the 63 kWh, 87 kWh and 87 kWh Performanceversions.
Peugeot 408 is the first SUV coupé of the French brand. Two plug-in hybrid engines available. HYBRID 225 e-EAT8 and HYBRID 180 e-EAT8. The lithium-ion battery has in both cases a capacity of 12.4 kWh and a power of 102 kW. A thermal engine is also available: the 1.2-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine with 130 hp PureTech engine.
Renault Austral will be offered in five hybrid petrol versions (two exclusive engines), sophisticated technology, and a refined and muscular appearance for the new compact Sport Utility of the House French.
The new Kia Niro was unveiled at the Seoul Mobility Show and is now on the market in the triple guise of HEV (hybrid), PHEV (plug-in) and EV (electric only).

Volkswagen ID. Buzz is the electric heir of the old Volkswagen Bulli so appreciated in the 60s and 70s. On the new Volkswagen ID. Buzz, engine and traction have remained rear, just like its predecessor, but now instead of the legendary engine boxer from only 25 horsepower there is a 204 hp electric powertrain .
