BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage: that homage to the past that looked to the future

BMW presented the 3.0 CSL Hommage concept car at the Concorso d'Eleganza di Villa d'Este in 2015.

The car, inspired by the 3.0 CSL of the 1970s, features a 3.0 longitudinal inline-six engine and Eboost hybrid system, with a minimalist interior made of carbon fibre and aluminium to reduce weight.

Despite futuristic styling, the 3.0 CSL Hommage remains faithful to the original, but with hints of the BMW i8 such as the LED laser headlights. News last year that BMW might launch a version derived from the Hommage concept and it could become the most expensive BMW ever.

Futuristic image
The aesthetic image turns out to be relatively faithful to the original 3.0 CSL, although this prototype has a futuristic line. This concept car does not just look to the past, also having hints of the BMW i8 that is a production car.

A concept that could become reality
The 3.0 CSL Hommage has LED laser headlights similar to those adopted by the BMW i8. According to BMW Blog in 2022, the 2015 3.0 CSL Hommage concept could become a limited-run production model based on the M4 CSL.
