Despite its small size, the new electric model will still be a premium car, in line with the Korean brand's positioning in the luxury segment.
The launch of the new model could be slowed by rising raw material costs, an issue that could affect the timing of production and marketing.
The Genesis head of design, SangYup Lee, explained that they are studying the Mint concept to see what a small luxury car might look like. It could be a 2-door coupe, but to make it more desirable, a production version could have 4 doors.
The Genesis Mint concept car had a claimed range of 200 miles (320 km), but it is likely that a production version could offer more mileage thanks to the Group's Hyundai advances on electric powertrains and the well-known E-GMP platform.
